Our Story

The Story of Heather and Brian (CliffsNotes version)

Once upon a time there were two young kids that went to the same high school, Martin High School. They had so much to learn and experience before it was their time to reconnect.

After years of following one another as friends on Facebook, Brian decided to give it a shot and invite Heather to meet at The Weatherford Wine Walk. She politely declined because she was jaded and tired after years of dating the wrong people. But that clearly is not how this story ends... She woke up one day and something told her that life is short and she should meet him. Who knows?!! Lightening could strike!!! (If you know this Anthony Hopkins quote, you get extra points.) So, she messaged him back and invited him to see a concert that she had tickets to see that Saturday. (Lord Huron, for those of you that may be wondering.) He obliged! So, they chatted for several days. Their first phone call, which was a very long one, was lovely as they both drank wine and Brian made salsa for Mia. Heather didn't know at that time how much she was going to love that little human, too. Then, the following day, Brian asked Heather on a whim to meet up in an HOUR to have a drink. For those reading this that know Heather, this very short time frame was stressful for her. She is late for things that are planned a month in advance, but with this new found attitude and hope for the unknown... she agreed and showed up ON TIME. There was very little primping and a "take me as I am" kind of attitude. Heather still remembers this first encounter like it was yesterday. We think Brian does, too, at least he says he does! He should because it sealed their fates forever. Nickel City Bar, followed by Tiki drinks at the Tarantula Bar... then bananas. (Be sure to ask Brian about the bananas at the wedding.) They talked until they were both hoarse! (And they had their first kiss... it was magic!) They met Saturday for the concert, too! They didn't listen to much of the concert because they still had so much to say and neither have stopped talking since. Heather literally fell that night... into Brian's car, but he caught her and that was more symbolic than either realized at the time. (She was not drunk, by the way, she decided to wear the dumbest, tallest shoes she had.) The rest is history and filled with many more concerts, fun times and late nights talking to music in the background.

They say, "when you know, you know". Neither of us ever really understood or believed that, but we knew that there was something tangibly special about our connection that first night and have treated it as special ever since. We have enjoyed so many wonderful memories together and made incredible friends over the last 3+ years. We are incredibly grateful to all of you reading this and those of you that will be a part of our 'happily ever after' as we become husband and wife.

The end... AND the beginning for us.
